My Journey as a Johnson Girl...formerly a Fedota Doll: Rome Day 1...August 3, 2011

Dave and I flew Swiss Air from London to Zurich (heck yeah Swiss stamp in the passport!!!) to Rome. Did you know they served fresh sandwiches and Swiss chocolate on the plane? BOTH TIMES?!?!?! One the first flight we had cheese and tomato sandwiches and the second flight was a ham and cheese. I asked Dave what kind of cheese he thought it was and he responded “uhh…Swiss…”. He was probably right! Since our flight was landing late (after 10…well like 10:30 really) it would have cost us extra to check into our apartment…so we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport (full breakfast included=major selling point!). It was a nice hotel with those mattresses that you can change the firmness of on either side. Well, my side worked fine…but Dave’s…not so much…his side was super soft. It was only one night so it was okay!

I’m not really good at showering in showers that don’t have a full door (think a glass partition that goes from the wall with the shower head to about ½ way down the tub)…so I accidently made a small pond in the bathroom! Oops! Again, Dave was a good sport and helped me clean it up so that the maid service didn’t have to do the whole thing.

That’s another thing…the cleaning and hotel staff were incredibly friendly! They were smiley and said good morning and helped us as best they could…and we could not believe how well they all (well most) spoke English.

All in all, we made it to Rome…only having to run through the airport in Zurich to get to our connecting flight…but it was kinda funny looking back!
